Miele Kitchens
Miele is a German manufacturer of high quality domestic appliances and commercial equipment. It was founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann and has always been a family-owned, family-run company. Since the beginning, the Miele motto has been "Immer Besser" or "Forever Better" and this philosophy is still reflected in the legendary quality and longevity of the products.
Miele is a world leader in the production of premium domestic appliances including cooking, baking and steam-cooking appliances, refrigeration products, coffee makers, dishwashers and laundry and floorcare products. This line-up is augmented by dishwashers, washer-extractors and tumble dryers for commercial use as well as washer-disinfectors for use in medical and laboratory applications (Miele Professional).
The company, founded in 1899, has 8 production plants in Germany and one plant each in Austria, the Czech Republic, China and Romania. 2009/2010 turnover £2.83 billion (highest in the company's 111 year history) with sales outside Germany accounting for 70%. Miele has its own wholly owned sales subsidiaries in 47 countries and is represented in a further 48 by importers and distributors.
The Miele company, now in the fourth generation of family ownership, employs a workforce of over 16000 with two-thirds in Germany. The company has its headquarters in Gütersloh, Westphalia.
